Fashion designer Umair Zafar appointed Creative Head for Urban Xchange Fashions and Apparels

Celebrity stylist, fashion designer, image consultant and versatile entrepreneur in the fashion business, Umair Zafar believes that fashion trends and designs should translate at an affordable price. His vision is to make stylish garments comfortable and affordable. The designer is known for consulting with various brand building projects and customized outfits. He has also signed a Hollywood film project. Close on the heels follows the news that he has been appointed as Creative Head for an upcoming fashion house.

Urban Xchange Fashions and Apparels Pvt Ltd – a Mumbai-based company set to launch multi-brand lifestyle and fashion stores in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India – has appointed Mumbai-based fashion designer Umair Zafar as its Creative Head. Umair Zafar will design a premium range of ethnic collection for men and women which will be sold under the Urban Fashion umbrella of multi-brand stores in India.

Umair Zafar says, “I am really privileged to be associated with the multi-city, pan-India company Urban Xchange and will be part of its launch strategy all over India.  Urban Xchange plans to bring different fabrics with designs, embroideries, embellishments and printing and manufacturing techniques under one roof to plan a seasonal collection of garments both for men and women and suitable for the exquisite taste and preferences of the classes, yet make it affordable for the masses. Nisha Sharma shoots with designer Randell Gomes’ khadi Sari and Anarkali collection

 

Tamil actress and model Nisha Sharma shot with Goa-born fashion designer Randell Gomes on Gandhi Jayanti for his hand-embroidered and embellished sari and Anarkali collection. The collection will be launched from his boutique in Margao in South Goa during Navratri and Dussera. 

 

Says designer Randell Gomes, “It’s a pleasure working with the very talented and bubbly model and actress Nisha Sharma who shares a great screen appeal and is fun to work with. This collection will be launched during Navaratri and is targeted at the working woman. Most sarees are ready to wear and can be put on with minimum of fuss, yet give the wearer a very regale and classy appeal. The are all hand-embellished and hand embroidered and contain exquisite hand work from different parts of India. The Anarkali collection is value for money and is available in various sizes, designs, silhouettes, cuts and fits and even for the plus-sized, middle-aged woman. He also launched a hand-embellished, hand-embroidered Anarkali line in pure Khadi in respect to the Father of the Nation – Mahatma Gandhi.”

 

Actress Nisha Sharma has been signed on for a big budget Tamil film to be jointly produced by Red Ruby Films of Mumbai and Vrindavaan Films. The film goes on floor on later on in October this year and features six well-known actors from the Tamil film industry. The shoot was co-ordinated by Newz66 Photography for designer Randell Gomes’ online shopping portal to be launched soon. Bollywood photographer Dilip Soni along with make man Ranjan Gaikwad and his team put in a lot of effort in shooting about 30 different changes at a make shift studio set up at a resort at Madh Island on the outskirts of Mumbai.

 

Says Nisha Sharma, “I love Randell Gomes’ sarees and Anarkalis. They have the perfect fit and are made with exquisite materials. There is no compromise on quality. Many designers use cheaper materials or look-alike material. Randell sticks to the original. I thank Newz66 Photography for the arrangements and co-ordination and for the entire shoot which went on like perfect clockwork without any glitches or problems.

Tamil actress Sshakshi Chovan who recently returned from Hyderabad after a 3-week shooting schedule says Rakhi Sawant is a very religious woman. Co-incidently, both Rakhi and Sshakshi pray at the same church at Seven Bungalows near Versova in suburban Mumbai.    

Rakhi Sawant and Sshakshi Chovan have become very good friends and Rakhi even sits with Sshakshi for hours, explaining to her how to handle certain situations in Bollywood. Sshakshi is comparatively new and has been in the industry for about two years. She has bagged 3 projects and has Rakhi to thank for her guidance and support.

“I admire Rakhi for her guts, gumption and b***s,” says Sshakshi explaining that not many people know the real Rakhi Sawant. What we all see on screen is the drama queen or Rakhi’s filmi avatar. Very few people know Rakhi in and out. Thanks to the religious bond that we share, Rakhi has been more forthcoming and has shared a lot with me, says Sshakshi Chovan.

Model and actress Sshakshi Chovan has bagged a plum role in a Tamil film titled “The Making of a Terrorist” based on terrorist Ajmal Kasab’s life did a test shoot for the film’s promotion recently.

The Satara-born, Mumbai-based actress will play the main lead as a Pakistani girl who narrates the life of Ajmal Kasab. From a shy, religious lad to a fanatic terrorist, driven by hate and fuelled by religious fanaticism “The Making of a Terrorist” is an almost-true story of Kasab’s life which led to his hanging. The film is produced by the Chennai-based Vrindaavan Films and will be dubbed in Hindi and English.

Sshakshi Chovan speaking to Newz66 said, “I am proud to be associated with this film which is a piece of serious cinema and is based on authentic research and presents both sides of the story – the dastardly acts committed by Kasab and his cronies who mercilessly shot and killed several innocent Indians as well as the tide of false religious propaganda unleashed by Kasab’s handlers and ISI agents that prompted the youngsters to become merchants of death. Intensive research by the film’s writers shows that Kasab was hypnotized by the hatred spewed by his trainers over almost two years. He was a victim too of international terrorism in some sense.”

Model and actress Jenifer D’souza loses 15 kgs for her film

 

Mumbai-based model and upcoming actress Jenifer D’souza proved that one can make it by sheer willpower by losing 15 Kgs to suit the look of a particular character. She did not resort any artificial surgical methods or any other medical therapy and lost the extra pounds by simply following a strict diet over a period of time.  She surprised everyone with her new avatar and expertise before the camera.  She recently shot for a movie as the second lead playing the role of a seductress vamp for Dilzan Wadia Productions. The film is a suspense thriller and Jenifer Dsouza plays the character of a gorgeous vamp that is at logger-heads with the leading lady in the film.

The film was shot partly at Rajpipla in Ahmedabad. Says Jenifer D’souza, “I agreed to play a negative lead in this film because I found the script very challenging and could relate to the persona of the character very well. Talking about her future projects, Jenifer says, she is focusing on challenging and professional roles mainly as a negative lead in television and movies.

On New Years Day, Gehana Vasisth vows never to go nude again!

 

Actress and model Gehana Vasisth has done an about turn. The cheeky 23-year-old lass who had surprised the nation by first wearing a bikini with the national flag allegedly wrapped around her waist – and getting arrested by the Pune police for dishonor to National Symbols – then going nude for Mary Kom and to stop flooding during the rains in Mumbai and splashing her bikini photos all over has turned a new leaf this New Year. After celebrating Diwali with her friends and doing Puja, Gehana has vowed to herself to never go nude again – that is for a photo shoot. “Of course, when I have a shower, I have to take my clothes off,” she quipped.  Speaking to Newz88, Gehana admitted that is was not appropriate for her to do such bold shoots. “India is still a conservative country and the masses do not like such bold work. A small percentage of youth may like such hot photos, but most senior citizens whom I met including film industry professionals told me that it was really unwise to embark on such a journey. Keeping their sentiments in mind, I have decided never to go nude again,” Gehana explained.

This is really an about turn, given the fact that just about two months ago, Gehana created a ruckus when she tweeted that “she was ready for paid sex”

Gehana recently completed shooting for the movie Nalaya Manithan which stars Kirbha, J Vignessh and Gehana in the south.

Nalaya Manithan was shot in Pondicherry and Chennai and was wrapped up within 20 days.
