Bollywood actress Rati Agnihotri wowed by designer Umair Zafar’s Tepchi work

He’s always been a trendsetter of sorts in the fashion world. His relentless journey to relentlessly promote the rich cultural heritage of India is an ongoing endeavour. Noted Mumbai based fashion designer Umair Zafar has forged ahead and is all set to promote another form of Chikankari to his fashion fan followers.

Elaborating on his latest collection, Umair discloses, “Tepchi is one among the 32 types of Chikankari Embroidery. Tepchi work on the entire kurta or just the dupatta is most delicate work as it uses a very thin thread. It is difficult to make out the right and wrong side by just looking at it hence called as magic work. Each stitch is symmetric to the other. Hand embroidered tepchi work gives a decent and stylish look to either the garment.”

Umair Zafar’s new collection is a quixotic and colourful range of long and short kurtis of Lucknowi Tepchi work on Kota fabric. An entire new range of Colors and sizes which is rarely available in the market will be created to suit women of all age groups and sizes.

Nisha Sharma shoots with designer Randell Gomes’ khadi Sari and Anarkali collection

 

Tamil actress and model Nisha Sharma shot with Goa-born fashion designer Randell Gomes on Gandhi Jayanti for his hand-embroidered and embellished sari and Anarkali collection. The collection will be launched from his boutique in Margao in South Goa during Navratri and Dussera. 

 

Says designer Randell Gomes, “It’s a pleasure working with the very talented and bubbly model and actress Nisha Sharma who shares a great screen appeal and is fun to work with. This collection will be launched during Navaratri and is targeted at the working woman. Most sarees are ready to wear and can be put on with minimum of fuss, yet give the wearer a very regale and classy appeal. The are all hand-embellished and hand embroidered and contain exquisite hand work from different parts of India. The Anarkali collection is value for money and is available in various sizes, designs, silhouettes, cuts and fits and even for the plus-sized, middle-aged woman. He also launched a hand-embellished, hand-embroidered Anarkali line in pure Khadi in respect to the Father of the Nation – Mahatma Gandhi.”

 

Actress Nisha Sharma has been signed on for a big budget Tamil film to be jointly produced by Red Ruby Films of Mumbai and Vrindavaan Films. The film goes on floor on later on in October this year and features six well-known actors from the Tamil film industry. The shoot was co-ordinated by Newz66 Photography for designer Randell Gomes’ online shopping portal to be launched soon. Bollywood photographer Dilip Soni along with make man Ranjan Gaikwad and his team put in a lot of effort in shooting about 30 different changes at a make shift studio set up at a resort at Madh Island on the outskirts of Mumbai.

 

Says Nisha Sharma, “I love Randell Gomes’ sarees and Anarkalis. They have the perfect fit and are made with exquisite materials. There is no compromise on quality. Many designers use cheaper materials or look-alike material. Randell sticks to the original. I thank Newz66 Photography for the arrangements and co-ordination and for the entire shoot which went on like perfect clockwork without any glitches or problems.

Tamil actress Sshakshi Chovan who recently returned from Hyderabad after a 3-week shooting schedule says Rakhi Sawant is a very religious woman. Co-incidently, both Rakhi and Sshakshi pray at the same church at Seven Bungalows near Versova in suburban Mumbai.    

Rakhi Sawant and Sshakshi Chovan have become very good friends and Rakhi even sits with Sshakshi for hours, explaining to her how to handle certain situations in Bollywood. Sshakshi is comparatively new and has been in the industry for about two years. She has bagged 3 projects and has Rakhi to thank for her guidance and support.

“I admire Rakhi for her guts, gumption and b***s,” says Sshakshi explaining that not many people know the real Rakhi Sawant. What we all see on screen is the drama queen or Rakhi’s filmi avatar. Very few people know Rakhi in and out. Thanks to the religious bond that we share, Rakhi has been more forthcoming and has shared a lot with me, says Sshakshi Chovan.

The popular Reality Show on Colors – Bigg Boss is in its sixth season and has seen a lot of ups and downs over the last 5 years. But this one takes the cake. Actress and model Kavita Radheshyam who turned down an offer to participate in Bigg Boss Season 6 has made some really startling revelations and disclosures. Speaking to a TV channel on Saturday, Kavita Radheshyam said, “Bigg Boss offered me big bucks to fake a relationship or love affair with a married man on the show. Further, I was asked to flirt with Rajeev Paul whose ex-wife Delnaz is also on the show. I was told that I would be paid a huge sum of money, if I could initially flirt with Rajeev Paul causing fights or discord in the house. Later on, I would have to try and bring the estranged couple together and get them to sort of kiss and make up on the show – even if it was temporarily. It would have been my task to get Rajeev Paul and his ex-wife Delnaz to reconcile their differences and maybe even consider a re-marriage. Rajeev Paul and Delnaz are divorced after a long, bitter fight, so the question of bringing them together seems very remote.  I found it a very stupid suggestion. I know that reality shows are partly scripted, but this suggestion coming from a senior Endemol executive – Endemol owns the IPR to the Bigg Boss format – even before I could sign the contract or a confidentiality agreement was really perverse.”  Sushant, an Endemol executive kept calling and messaging me several times almost begging me to join the show, Kavita revealed to Newz88, adding that she was given to understand that Sushant was a very senior executive from the Endemol creative team.

Speaking to Newz88, Kavita Radheshaym also hinted that a senior Endemol executive had tried to act fresh with her and even suggested the casting couch if she wanted more money.

Hitting out at Bigg Boss, Kavita Radheshyam while speaking about her interview told Newz88, “None of the former Bigg Boss participants or inmates have made it big in Bollywood. If one checks out the current resumes of the participants of the last 5 seasons, it is very evident that almost none of the participants have really gone far. Forget about the participants, even the winners have not made any quantum leaps in their filmi career. Kashmera Shah, Shweta Tiwari and some others were anyway working in the industry before they entered the Bigg Boss house. But those who were not doing much are still struggling where they are. To name a few – German model Claudia Ciesla who was linked with Salman Khan and entered the Bigg Boss house amid much fanfare hasn’t gone far in the last 3 years. Similarly, Ashutosh – the winner of the second season or Season 2 is not doing much. Anupama Verma, Aryan Vaid, Payal Rohatgi, Ashutosh, Raja Chaudhary, Rohit Verma and several others may be doing some work, but their career has not got a kick start with Bigg Boss. In fact, many former participants have sunk to lower levels in terms of a film or modeling career after their stints with Bigg Boss. The reasons for this is quite simple. A candidate who goes into Bigg Boss gets a false air or sense of superiority and hikes his or her professional fees several times over. After the initial hullabaloo and publicity has died down, event organizers, producers and TV channels do not want to touch the former participants with their inflated egos and hiked rates and drop them like hot potatoes. They try to tap the latest Reality Show participants. As a result many of them are actually out of work. By the time the reality of the Reality Show business strikes in, it’s too late for the candidate who has over-priced himself or herself and is out of the reckoning for most production houses and event companies. I would consider Bigg Boss a dent on one’s film career instead of a boost,” Kavita Radheshyam told Newz88.

Is TV actor Sunny Goraya dating actress Laila N Khan?

If the TV grapevine in Mumbai is to be believed, then Sunny Goraya who plays the character of Rishabh Amarnath Kapoor in Bade Acche Lagte Hein on Sony is most probably dating Malaysian-Burmese actor Laila N Khan and according to a report by Newz88 is completely besotted by her. 

Laila who originally hails from Malaysia has lived in California, the Gulf region (Dubai, Oman, and even Iraq), UK and Australia and is an MBA from the USA. She participated in the television reality show “Fear Factor” from Malaysia, before deciding to make Mumbai her home and Bollywood her destination. 

Laila N Khan a few years ago was linked to veteran actor Kamal Hassan who as the gossip mills would have it had a major crush on her. But the crush remained a crush as Laila vanished to Dubai for about six months.

Laila has done several smaller films and TV commercials, music videos and print ads notably among them being Samsung Mobiles, Pan Parag, Micromax, etc. Laila is of mixed origin – Indian, Mexican (Latino) and Burmese and this combination has completely swept Sunny Goraya off his feet. 

At a recent photo shoot Sunny was seen hugging Laila several times and was a permanent fixture in her green room. Sunny Goraya was so comfortable in her presence in her green room that he actually took off his jacket to make himself comfortable, says our source – who managed to click a photograph of the two together. Sunny regularly visits Laila N Khan on her shoots and picks her up after the shoot and the couple is often seen chatting away to glory at up-market coffee shops in the Lokhandwala area in suburban Mumbai or catching up on a movie at Infinity Mall in the same area.

We asked our good friend Navin Batra if his leading lady Veena Malik had gone in for cosmetic surgery with bust implants recently. Of course Navin Batra would not breathe a word, but a source told us that Veena Malik could have gone in for some cosmetic surgery recently.

Unfortunately, the spunky actress has put on extra weight on her sides, hips and thighs – which is self evident from the photographs below. While her PR machinery describes it as “shapely long legs and washboard abs”, the photographs speak a thousand words.

Shradha Sharma is the new dandiya queen

 

Bigg Boss 5 participant, item girl and actress Shradha Sharma has been signed on for so many shows and performances during Navratri 2012 that she can truly be called the new dandiya queen. Shradha is doing back to back shows during the ten days of Navratri and will be literally living from a suitcase. Her tour will start on the first day in Delhi followed by Jaipur and Indore. She will also perform in Kolkatta and Gwalior followed by Pune, Nashik and Bangalore. 

She is probably the busiest dancer and item girl this Navratri and is all set to take on Falguni Phatak who till now was the undisputed Dandiya Queen. Shradha’s troupe includes her dancers and makeup staff including her personal designer and  manager. The group has christened their vehicle Dandiya Caravan which is truth will house all their stuff for the entire festival and will be their home away from home.
